Weakness
I can’t fight this feeling in my heart,
Deep inside it’s tearing me apart,
Soon I’m going to have to choose,
‘Tween being too shy to ask and too proud to lose.
When I saw you that first time,
I’d never seen anything so fine,
When we spoke first, your voice so sweet,
I had to thank God that we could meet.
Now here with you, conversation dried,
I wish to be closer, though I am too shy,
To tell you my feelings, beyond that which shows,
For should you reject me, would be the knockout blow.
Even though I want to tell you it all,
Trying to think what to say brings me ‘gainst a wall,
So instead of standing and facing my fear,
I write you this poem, praying you’d see it clear.
