The Poker Game

I sat down at the table
Confident I could win
Sure that I was able
To make you both throw your hands in

But then the stakes got higher
My heart laid on the line
Whatever I desire
Is resting in these cards of mine

One’s cards laid on the table
No longer room to bluff
A poker face grew pale
The game had gone on long enough

Decision time had come again
And still one to discard
As two held stiff until the end
Playing poker, with our hearts

Fold or hold, walk or run
Time to stake my claim
Gambling in love is not much fun
The cards sentenced all to pain
