For My Father

A father is so many things:
Teacher, coach, doctor for stins,
Accountant for the eager child
And still he loves them all the while.

A father has so many strengths:
Building things; shelves or a fence.
Sacrificing himself through his son’s life
Til he can hand him off to a wife.

A father’s love cannot be found,
In: Water, land, the sky or cloud.
Such affection goes past the lines
Of convention, space, even sleep time!

A father is the greatest thing,
A child can hope for in upbringing.
Through joy and strength, or seas of tears
A father supports you through the years.

So thankyou, dad, for all you’ve done,
In raising me, your eldest son.
I only pray that I can be
The kind of father you are to me.
