A Time When I Believed

There was a time when I believed in love.
A day I thought that love could live so true;
The day you came as though sent from above,
A day forgotten now that I’ve lost you.

A day of peace, a day happiness bloomed,
Gave birth unto a love so true and real.
Emotive fire enveloped, burned, consumed
My being, melting down the waxen seal.

But love can never last this now I know.
When truth be told and all is said and done:
Love comes a river strong, and stronger flows
Until the bed dries, then, the love is gone.

And so, love comes flown on angelic wings,
But passion dies, and pain is all love brings.
